"The National
Association of Secondary School Principals has placed the Annual
Conference of the Southern Association of Student Councils on the NASSP
National Advisory List of Student Contests and Activities for
2007-2008."
SASC is an organization of member schools from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
SASC began
in 1932 when Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee, invited
several schools from Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas to
participate in a conference to celebrate its 20th year of student government. Because of the success of
that meeting, the attending schools decided to hold a
meeting each year. Other schools were invited to send delegates,
and thus the
Southern Association of Student Councils was born. Since
1932, member schools have served as hosts to the annual conference with the exception of the
years during World War II. For information as to why your school should join SASC, click here. To become a member, click here. (save this file to your computer, print it, and then you can delete it) Please report any bad links or other problems to the webmaster.
